3D Print Pittsburgh Partners with FabLabz for Local Filament Sales and Large Format Printing

For the past year, 3D Print Pittsburgh has been partnering with FabLabz in Squirrel Hill to bring local makers, businesses, and creators better access to quality 3D printing filament and large format printing services. We have never formally announced this collaboration, so consider this the official word: if you are in the Pittsburgh area and need filament or large format prints, there is now a physical storefront where you can find both.

Polymaker Filament, Available Locally

One of the biggest challenges for 3D printing enthusiasts in Pittsburgh has always been sourcing quality filament locally. Ordering online works, but sometimes you need a spool today, or you want to see a color in person before committing. That is where this partnership comes in.

3D Print Pittsburgh supplies a full range of Polymaker filament for retail sale at the FabLabz storefront on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill. Whether you are working on a personal project, a prototype for your business, or just restocking your workshop, you can walk in and pick up what you need.

The current selection includes:

  • PolyTerra PLA – Eco-friendly PLA available in a wide range of colors, great for general purpose printing
  • PolyLite PLA – Reliable, consistent PLA for everyday prints and prototypes
  • PolyLite PETG – Stronger and more heat-resistant than PLA, ideal for functional parts
  • PolyFlex TPU95 – Flexible filament for grips, gaskets, and parts that need to bend
  • Panchroma PLA – Specialty options including glow-in-the-dark variants

All filament is the same stock we use in our own print operations, so you are getting materials that have been tested and proven in real production environments.

Large Format 3D Printing in Squirrel Hill

Beyond filament, this partnership also brings large format 3D printing capability to a physical location where customers can see the equipment in action. Our custom-built large format printer is housed at the FabLabz shop, capable of producing parts that go well beyond what standard desktop printers can handle.

Large format printing opens up possibilities that smaller machines simply cannot match. Here are just a few of the applications we have been working on:

Custom Signage

3D printed signs with multi-color capability, perfect for businesses, events, and retail displays. Our multi-material system allows for eye-catching multi-color signage in a single print.

Industrial Parts

Large brackets, enclosures, and structural components for engineering and manufacturing applications. Materials include PLA, PETG, and carbon fiber infused options for added strength.

Prototypes and Models

Full-scale prototypes and architectural models that would be impossible or impractical to produce on smaller machines. See your design at actual size before committing to production tooling.

Functional Large-Scale Prints

From custom tool holders to large replacement parts, large format printing solves problems that off-the-shelf solutions cannot. If you can design it, we can likely print it.

Why a Physical Location Matters

3D printing is still a field where seeing things in person makes a real difference. Being able to walk into a shop, talk to someone knowledgeable about the technology, inspect material samples, and see a large format printer running changes the conversation entirely.

For businesses considering large format printing for the first time, having a physical location to visit removes a lot of the uncertainty. You can see the scale of the machine, hold sample prints, and discuss your project face to face. That is something that a website alone cannot replicate.

FabLabz brings the storefront and hands-on accessibility. 3D Print Pittsburgh brings the equipment, materials, and production expertise. Together, we are making advanced 3D printing more accessible to the Pittsburgh community.

Two Pittsburgh Businesses, One Goal

FabLabz and 3D Print Pittsburgh are two independent Pittsburgh-based 3D printing businesses that decided to work together rather than compete. FabLabz operates its own print farm and storefront in Squirrel Hill. 3D Print Pittsburgh brings years of experience in custom engineering, large format printing, and material sourcing.

This partnership is about combining strengths. Customers visiting FabLabz get access to a broader range of materials and capabilities. Customers coming through 3D Print Pittsburgh get the benefit of a physical retail location and local production. It is the kind of collaboration that makes a local maker community stronger.
